How Hemma works
What to expect from the moment you begin your evaluation to your first treatment cycle.
Hemma is a telehealth platform that connects you with licensed healthcare providers for evidence-based HRT, GLP-1 weight management, and longevity protocols. You complete an intake form online, a licensed clinician reviews it, determines whether treatment is appropriate for you, and issues a prescription where clinically suitable. Your medication ships directly to your door. Everything happens asynchronously, which means you do not need to take time off for an appointment. Hemma is not a medical practice. All clinical services are provided by licensed healthcare professionals through our partner network.
Your first charge covers your evaluation and your first treatment cycle. If the clinician reviews your intake and determines that treatment is not appropriate for your situation, your payment is refunded in full. You will receive a clear explanation from your clinician and, where applicable, guidance on next steps or alternative options to discuss with your primary care provider.
No. Your Hemma intake is designed to give the clinician a full picture of your health history, current symptoms, medications, and goals. You do not need a referral or prior prescription. That said, if you have complex or recent medical history, the clinician may ask follow-up questions or recommend you consult with your in-person provider before starting a program.
Hemma operates through a licensed telehealth partner network, subject to state availability. Telehealth regulations vary by state, and availability may change. If you are unsure whether Hemma is available where you live, contact us and we will confirm before you begin.
Most intakes take around 5 to 7 minutes. You will be asked about your medical history, current symptoms, medications and supplements, lifestyle factors, and your goals. This information goes directly to your clinician, who reads every response before making any clinical decision. Nothing is automated on the clinical side.
HRT, explained plainly
What your options are, how treatment is managed, and what the clinical process looks like from first prescription to ongoing care.
Hemma offers a range of clinician-prescribed options, including estradiol pills, patches, creams, and gels, progesterone, dual-medication combinations for both systemic and local symptoms, and non-hormonal alternatives such as paroxetine and desvenlafaxine for women who prefer or require a hormone-free approach. Testosterone for women is coming soon. Your clinician selects the most appropriate option based on your intake and clinical profile, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Your initial prescription covers your first 12 weeks. At the one-month mark, your clinician reviews your progress through an async check-in and adjusts your medication if needed. After that, reviews happen quarterly. Any time there is a medication change, a follow-up review is scheduled four weeks later. You can also request a live video consult at any point at no additional cost.
Labs are ordered at your clinician's discretion based on your intake and the specific medication being considered. They are not always required before starting. When labs are ordered, they are billed separately and paid directly by you. Your clinician will tell you exactly what is needed and why before you incur any cost.
Our clinical partner network draws from licensed providers who are trained in menopause care. We do not claim endorsement by any organization, but we follow published evidence-based recommendations in how care is structured and delivered.
Yes. Hemma is designed for ongoing care, not a one-off prescription. As long as treatment continues to be appropriate based on your clinical reviews, you can remain on the program. Your clinician may recommend periodic reassessment, and medication can be adjusted or discontinued at any time based on your needs or preferences.
You can message your care team directly through your secure patient portal at any time. If your symptoms are not improving, your clinician can review your case outside of the regular check-in schedule and make adjustments as needed. You are not locked into a fixed protocol. You can also request a live video consult at no additional cost.
GLP-1 programs, without the confusion
What GLP-1 medications are, who they are appropriate for, how treatment is structured, and what you can realistically expect.
GLP-1 receptor agonists are a class of medications that may support weight management by influencing how the body regulates appetite and blood sugar. They are used clinically under ongoing physician supervision. Hemma offers both semaglutide and tirzepatide in injection and oral formats. These are compounded medications prepared by licensed pharmacies, not FDA-approved branded products. Compounded medications have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality. Individual results vary. These programs require clinician approval.
General eligibility criteria include a BMI of 27 or above, or a BMI of 25 or above with a related health condition. The current program accepts patients between the ages of 18 and 74. Your clinician reviews your intake carefully and may request labs before or alongside starting medication. Eligibility is determined by your clinician, not by an automated system. If you do not qualify, your payment is refunded in full.
Labs are included at Month 2 of the weight management program. Standard labs such as CMP, TSH, lipid panel, and HbA1c are covered within your program cost at the Month 2 review. If your baseline labs show any abnormality or your clinician determines more frequent monitoring is needed, additional labs may be recommended and billed separately. After the initial cycle, labs are typically reviewed at 12-month intervals in standard patients.
Individual results vary significantly and depend on your starting point, medication, adherence, lifestyle, and overall health. We do not make specific outcome guarantees. These programs are designed to support clinician-supervised access to GLP-1 protocols in a structured, monitored setting. Your clinician will set realistic expectations based on your individual assessment at intake and ongoing reviews.
The care coaching program is led by certified medical assistants and is designed to provide structured, ongoing lifestyle support alongside your medication program. Sessions are 15 minutes and can be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly based on your preference. Each session covers diet, exercise, any side effects you are experiencing, and progress on your current module goals. You are assigned the same care coach for continuity. The program has 13 modules and is patient-directed, with no fixed end date.
NAD+, Sermorelin, B12 MIC, clearly explained
What these protocols are, what they are not, and how the clinical process works for each one.
NAD+, Sermorelin, and B12 MIC are compounded medications. Compounded medications have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality. They are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies and prescribed by licensed clinicians based on your individual clinical assessment. This is different from over-the-counter supplements, where no clinical review takes place. Your clinician will discuss whether a protocol is appropriate for your specific situation.
NAD+ and Sermorelin are each available as an injection or as a next-gen patented oral dropper. Injections allow for a wider dose range and are the traditional delivery method. The oral dropper is a newer format that some patients prefer for ease of use. Your clinician will advise which format is appropriate for your clinical profile and goals. B12 MIC format options are confirmed by your clinician at intake.
B12 MIC does not require standard labs in the initial pathway. For NAD+ and Sermorelin, labs may be recommended at your clinician's discretion based on your intake and health history. When labs are ordered, they are billed separately. Your clinician will be transparent about what is needed and why before any cost is incurred.
No. Sermorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue, meaning it may stimulate the pituitary gland's own production of growth hormone, rather than introducing external growth hormone directly. This is a clinically meaningful distinction. The program is tightly clinician-gated, with careful intake review before any prescription is issued.
Individual results vary significantly and depend on your starting point, protocol, consistency, and overall health profile. These are areas of active clinical research and we do not make specific outcome promises. These programs are designed to provide clinician-supervised access to longevity protocols in a structured, monitored setting. Your clinician will set realistic expectations at intake based on your individual assessment and goals.
Pricing, insurance, and your data
How charges work, what your HSA or FSA covers, and how your health information is protected.
Your first charge covers your clinician evaluation and your first treatment cycle. For multi-week plans, you are billed upfront for the full cycle at the discounted rate, and medication ships every four weeks. There are no hidden fees. If your clinician determines after reviewing your intake that treatment is not appropriate for you, your payment is refunded in full.
Hemma is a direct-pay platform. We do not bill insurance directly. However, Hemma is HSA and FSA compatible, meaning you can use pre-tax funds from a qualifying health savings account or flexible spending account to cover your subscription costs. If you have PPO coverage, you may also be able to submit receipts for out-of-network reimbursement. We recommend confirming the specific terms with your plan administrator, as coverage varies.
It depends on the program. Labs are included at Month 2 of the weight management program. For HRT, labs are billed separately when ordered by your clinician. For longevity programs, B12 MIC does not require standard labs in the initial pathway, while NAD+ and Sermorelin may require labs at your clinician's discretion, billed separately. Testosterone is coming soon and is not currently available through Hemma. Your clinician will always tell you what is being ordered and why before any lab cost is incurred.
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your member portal. If you cancel mid-cycle on a multi-week plan, any unused portion of a pre-paid cycle follows the cancellation terms outlined at the time of purchase. For questions about your specific plan, contact our support team through the portal or on our contact page.
Hemma operates on a HIPAA-compliant infrastructure. Your health information is stored and transmitted securely, is never sold to third parties, and is used only for your care and necessary operational purposes. All clinical communications happen through our secure patient portal. For more detail, review our Privacy Policy.
